UNAMI Human Rights Office organizes a workshop on “ Investigative Human Rights Techniques under International Human Rights Law” for security officers in Sulaymaniyah.
Sulaymaniyah, 25 November 2024 – The Human Rights Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) organized a workshop on “Investigative Human Rights Techniques under International Human Rights Law” for Law Enforcement officials (KRI Security forces) from Sulaymaniyah governorate. A total of 22… participants benefitted from this training. Participants were briefed about general principles and concepts of international human rights law, including United Nations reporting and review mechanisms and state obligations. It also addressed the rights of detainees under international conventions, the Constitution of Iraqi, and Kurdistan Regional law, and the role of investigators in protecting these rights, particularly during interrogation stage.
