Residents of Bab Sinjar Housing Complex and Al-Azizya neighbourhood in Mosul are now better prepared for climate change adaptation and sustainable living.
Through a public outreach campaign, UN-HABITAT and ピースウィンズ・ジャパン Peace Winds Japan (PWJ) engaged over 1,000 returnees, including more than 400 women, offering guidance on responding to climate-related disasters like sandstorms, droughts, and floods.
The campaign also encouraged green practices, including home gardening, co…mposting, and adopting the 3Rs—Reuse, Reduce, Recycle.
The initiative, funded by the Government of Japan, is part of the “Japan Village Project,” focused on developing a strategic residential area in Mosul for returnees under the city’s Master Plan, while promoting a better and more sustainable urban future for all of Iraq.
