Sulaymaniyah- On 16 December 2024, the Human Rights Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) organized a one-day training titled “Promoting NGOs Engagement with UN Human Rights Mechanisms and drafting of shadow reports” with a specific focus on engagement with and reporting to the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). The event was attended by 22 participants (17 female, 5 male) representing NGOs from various governorates in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Participants agreed on the roles and timelines for the preparation of a shadow report which is due for submission to the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women by 15 February 2025.
